Children's Day celebrated at Bela Church

The Children’s Day of Bela Parish was celebrated at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Bela, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.


The day began with the Thanksgiving Eucharist celebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Stany Pereira.


The celebration continued with children's day programme in the hall.


Fr Stany Pereira, Parish Priest; Mr Cyril Crasta, PPC Vice-President; Mrs Cicilia D Souza, PPC Secretary; Sr Marceline and Sr Jancy, the Superiors of the convents; Mr Manohar, Parish Coordinator of all the Commissions; Mr Ambrose, and Mrs Preetha, the convener and secretary of of commission for catechism respectively were present on the dais to inaugurate the programme. Mr Ambrose welcomed the gathering, while Mr Cyril expressed happiness through his words and Mrs Cicilia read a self composed poem on the occasion; Fr Stany wished the children well and appreciated their active participation in parish activities highlighted the service rendered to the children by the parish especially by the catechism teachers and animators.


An ice-breaking session for all the children was led by Mr Manohar, Mr Stephen and their team. This was followed by an insightful audio-visual motivational class conducted by Fr Stany Pereira.

The Class-wise games which followed were organized for the children by their respective class teachers.


The afternoon session was vibrant with cultural presentations. Children from classes 1 to 10, along with the children from Kalathur Chapel , Altar Servers, Marian Sodality, and the Children’s Choir, showcased beautiful performances based on various biblical themes. The prizes were distributed at the end of the programme, to the winners of the class-wise games and competitions for the Altar Servers and Marian Sodality held throughout the year.


Mrs Preetha proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sr Ashwini and Mrs Sunitha. It was a fun-filled and memorable day for the children, made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Catechism teachers of the parish.


The children were treated to a good breakfast in the morning, a sumptuous meal in the noon and ice cream in the evening.
